When we think about email security, we think about protecting inboxes from being takeover, stopping phishing attacks, preventing fraud, blocking malware delivery, filtering spam, and using encryption to protect the contents of emails from unauthorized people.  Security was not built into email when it was first invented. Email remains the one of the main ways of communication and, even nowadays, security is still not built into email by default.
