Visible and invisible power of computation with Davood Shamsi
Wednesday 14 Jun, 2023
Davood Shamsi, Adjunct Professor at Stanford University is ready to unveil the Visible and invisible power of computation, on the 22nd of June, on the Main Stage. Let’s get more familiar with his talk before we meet!
Over the past few decades, the computational power of machines has experienced an astronomical increase, leading to unimaginable impacts on our lives compared to a century ago. This tremendous influence has now reached a point where it begins to shape our destiny as a species on this planet.
From science fiction movies to scholarly discussions, numerous theories have emerged about how our lives will be shaped by the immense power of computation. In my upcoming talk in DevTalks, I aim to explore various facets of computational technology, providing a deeper understanding of the direction in which we are heading.
While it is true that historical predictions about the future often fall short of reality, we can still learn valuable lessons from the history of technology that can guide us moving forward. During my presentation, I will share three compelling stories that illustrate the different faces of computational power: its potential for brilliance, its darker implications, and the potential for wastefulness. Each of these aspects of technology will serve as a catalyst for deeper contemplation on how computation can shape our future society and technological advancements.
By examining these narratives, we can gain valuable insights into the multifaceted nature of computational power and its implications. Ultimately, this exploration will contribute to our collective understanding of how we can harness and responsibly navigate the evolving landscape of technology in the years to come.
Let’s embrace the power of tech between the 21st and 22nd of June, at Romexpo, B1 Pavillion, for the 10th DevTalks’ edition!
