Meet our @DevTalks speakers - Adam Tornhill - CTO at CodeScene
Thursday 31 Mar, 2022
DevTalks 2022 - AI & Innovation. Humanity Reimagined will be back on track on 8-10th of June with an Online & In-Person great edition! Today we started a new series of interviews dedicated to our speakers, through which our IT community will be able to meet the man behind the speaker. Our first speaker is Adam Tornhill, CTO at CodeScene. He will with us at DevTalks 2022 on Java Stage, speaking about: "Turn the microscope: using machine learning and data science to optimize code quality".
He was challenged by us to answer to 5 questions. Let's see together what he answered us!
# What drew you to the tech industry?
My tech adventures started with a Commodore 64 back in 1987. A wonderful 8-bit computer that I used to play a lot of classic games on.
Pretty soon I got curious how those games were written, so I taught myself to code and started to develop my own mini-games. I've been hooked on programming ever since.
# What is the best job decision you ever made?
My best job decision was to quit my job and start my own company. Being able to focus full time on code analysis and explore how software evolves is truly fascinating. It's a lot of work for sure, but also extremely rewarding and I'm grateful for the impact we have on software companies around the globe.
# What is the favorite part of your job?
Learning new stuff and talking to our users. I love that feedback loop.
# Can you tell us what the most important topic in the Java field is right now?
Clojure.
# Do you have any advice for aspiring tech people who want to grow in the tech industry?
It's always about combining breadth with depth. I personally found the consultancy business valuable since I got exposed to several different companies, domains, and technologies in a fairly short period of time. But it's just as important to experience what happens after we build that initial system. As such, I recommend spending time maintaining existing products too. You learn a lot via this combination.
Don't miss the chance to meet Adam on our Java Stage on 8-10th of June at DevTalks 2022 AI & Innovation. Humanity Reimagined!
